Embarrassing Story: Nice Pants. Do You Irony Them?

Embarrassing Story: Nice Pants. Do You Irony Them?

My embarrassing story, unfortunately, just happened a few weeks ago. I arrived at the rink and started chatting with a fellow coach. She had a pair of North Face Ski Pants. You know the ones all the coaches wear over their jeans? They are black, and cost about $200. Yep those. I have been contemplating getting them for about a year. We were discussing her pants, how warm they were and how much I need a pair.

As my fellow coach stepped on the ice ,she forgot to take her guards off, and fell. Not a big deal, except she fell in a giant puddle from the Zamboni. The Zamboni just exited the ice, and the ice did not have time to dry.

Good news: She’s okay.

Bad news: As I’m telling her how great it is that she gave me a live-action demo on how waterproof the pants are, I, too, stepped on the ice with my guards on.

I swear to you I have never, never, never done this before in my life. My pants, unfortunately, were not waterproof.  I absorbed a good portion of the puddle on my rear end and sported the puddle the rest of the session.

I guess it was a sign to shell out the $200 for the North Face pants after all.

See if there are any of the Unique resale shops in your area. I get all my coaching pants at the one near my house, for about $4 a pair. They ALWAYS have them. As far as embarrassing stories, someday I'll tell you about the day I decided I could jump over a cone like the hockey guys. In front of Sasha Fadeyev. During tot class.

Good suggestion, $4 is much better then $200. I'm looking forward to your story. You should enter it in Aprils contest!

    Hilarious! Great way to compare!

My daughter unofficially holds the record at her rink for making it nearly half way across the ice with her guards on. I am still not sure how she did it, to tell you the truth, but it sure was funny (since she wasn't hurt, of course!)

Every time someone leaves their guards on, her trek is mentioned!

Wow, no kidding. I can't believe she made it that far without falling over. I tell you, every time I get on the ice since I did this, I look at my feet twice to make sure I took of my guards.

haha, that’s why nearly all the coaches at my rink don’t use guards! the lobby where they leave their skates is no more than 15 steps away from the surface, and hey, everyone gets lazy. some coaches put their bags in the hockey box even, so its literally 2 steps away.
